Literature Text

Gilbert had come to your rescue when you were being attack by a stray dog whom was filled with intentions of disassembling you. You were quite grateful that Gilbert had come in time but sadly the pain in which your felt from your wounded tail to your spine was starting to get a bit unbearable. But when you noticed Gilbert struggling to keep his hold on the dog you sucking in the pain and pushed yourself off the ground. Stumbling a bit but you quickly gained your balance and went into offensive mode. Knowing Gilbert was here to fight with you the chances of winner increased 50%.

You sprinted towards the dog and ducked underneath him before grabbing onto a hind leg and biting into it with sharp feline teeth. You heard the dog yelp and before he could lift up his hind leg to kick you let go and rolled to the forearm and bit into it as the dog yelped once more.

You let go quickly after and rolled a good yard away from the German Shepherd and saw that Gilbert was now hanging onto the dog by the face. You gave a sweat drop before sighing. You leaped up and grabbed a hold of the dog’s back and dug in your nails as Gilbert saw you he let go of the dog’s face and clawed the dog’s belly.

After that little move the dog leaped up as Gilbert ran to the side as you held on to the dog and bit down on his shoulder. When you felt your grip slightly loosen from the dog’s trashing you let go and ran over to Gilbert’s side as the dog, bloodied and tired, bark at the two of you before running off like a coward.

As you relaxed you finally realized your labored breathing and your shaking legs, not to mention the pain you felt seemed to have spread through your whole body now. You clenched your teeth to hold in the pain, you’ve been through worse then this when you first became a stray, you can handle this just fine…hopefully.

“Zhat…vas…awesome! Did you see zhat? Ve gave zhat dog a good beating! He’ll zhink twice before attack you, _____, or me because I’m zhat awesome und all!” Gilbert’s energized and proud voice filled around the air that surrounded you causing a major headache.

You knew Gilbert doesn’t mean to be so loud or obnoxious but right now you could care less about he feels, the pain was starting to become excruciating, “Gilbert…shut up with that…pompous voice of…yours.” You voice was harsh but you had to speak through pants as you tried to get as much oxygen in your system to ease of the pain you felt, especially the pain in your precious tail.

Gilbert instantly stopped talking and looked at you with hurt red eyes but he quickly became worried when he saw how weak you looked. He rushed over to you, ready to speak but decided to do as you ask and stay quiet as he looked over your injuries. He noted how bloodied your tail looked and the scratch marks on your back. He could easily tell you were in pain and tired so he said in a surprisingly gentle and worried voice, “_____, I zhink I should carry you to our shelter, okay?”

You didn’t have the chance to say anything when Gilbert suddenly grabbed you by the scruff and place you on his back. You noted that he was still pretty strong for a newbie like him, though you were pretty sure him eating earlier has helped him with his strength and stamina. You didn’t complain when you laid on his back in a sideways position but it wasn’t very comfortable for your stomach but oh well.

Gilbert took a few test steps to make sure he was able to carry you properly; he concluded so and took a few more steps before going left to where a trashcan was. You didn’t question him and stayed quiet but understood when you saw a familiar soccer ball. Gilbert used his nose to push the soccer ball to the destination while you continued to just laid on his back without much thought as your body started to numb from all the pain.

After some time he managed to get the two of you back safety back to the sheltered box before setting you down gently. You grunted a bit as you laid on the floor, not really having the energy to move, okay, this was considered the most damaged you’ve gotten since you’ve became a stray. You really, really hoped your tail wasn’t too damaged,  a stray like you wouldn’t have the time to learn have to have proper balance without a tail quickly enough.

When Gilbert had pushed the soccer ball into the box he came out and looked at you worriedly and could tell how tired you were. He grabbed you once again by the scruff and did his best to drag you into the box, much to your discomfort but you weren’t complaining. You have learned complaining doesn’t do much for a stray.

As Gilbert finally managed to drag you into the box he had dragged you to where you were laying on the pale blue shirt. He knew you went out to get it for him but you seemed to need it more than he did. You’ve done many things for him in the day you’ve met; it was his turn to repay you.

When we laid down on the pale shirt you were quite greatly, feeling something soft and slightly easing the pain you felt, before you started to close your eyes in hope of sleep. But you opened them once more to see Gilbert’s worried face, you felt bad for making Gilbert part of your problem but there wasn’t much you could do about it now that you were injured. You curled yourself slightly as you winced when you noticed that if you curled yourself too much the pain in your spine would worsen. So you ended up in a position where you were half curled up and half not which wasn’t too uncomfortable, quite acceptable actually.

You closed your eyes once more as sleep started to come over you, but with your good hearing skills you could hear Gilbert mumble under his breathe, “Vow, zhat’s a lot of blood…” He must be talking about your tail but you didn’t care any longer and just wished to sleep.

You sighed slightly as your body relaxed, welcoming sleep, but once again you were interrupted when you felt something wet on your tail. Upon opening your eyes and turned your head ever so slightly you saw Gilbert licking your tail to clean off the blood, you could easily tell he was in an awkward position with his cheeks gaining a pinkish color. You felt your face heat up slightly but you ignored it and went to sleep, not really caring anymore about what was happening around you.

Soon, like close your eyes, you were completely asleep, much to Gilbert’s preference since he would have exploded with embarrassment if you had watched him take care of your wounds. But once he had licked off all the blood founded on your tail, even though the iron taste in his mouth was awful, he observed your tail with the dog’s bite marks on it. He hoped it wasn’t too serious but there wasn’t much more he could do.

Sighing, he turned around and walked over to the soccer ball which was on the other side of the box and curled around next to it before closing his eyes hoping for sleep to welcome him. Though that wasn’t the case, he spent fifteen minutes trying to fall asleep but no luck, the worry for you was gnawing his insides. He opened his eyes and looked at your sleeping body, he wondered if you were sleeping well or not while being surrounding by that shirt. He was about to close his eyes again when he noticed you shaking ever so slightly.

Squinting he realized you were shivering, that was when he noticed that the sun was already down and cold air was starting to blow in. A sweet drop formed as he wondered how he didn’t notice it getting cold but he looked towards you once more, worried. He pushed himself off the ground and walked over to you, sniffed at you before putting his noise to your fur, you did feel cold.

He paused a bit before laying down beside you and curling around hoping his own warmth would warm you, heat flooded into his cheeks but he ignored it only worrying about you. He rested his head on your shoulder, smelling the earthy fragrance from you, and used his tail as a cushion for yours. It wasn’t the most comfortable positions but he did notice you warming up. He gave a small purr, happy to know you weren’t cold any longer, before closing his eyes and listened to your even breathing and before he knew it, he had fallen asleep with a warm feeling surrounding his heart.
